Pleasure

mindysavoryoursoul

Now this is a word that goes well with food, and so many other things!!! I think most of us eat for pleasure, the satisfying taste of food and the different flavors and sensations good food brings. With so many different flavor profiles to choose from, where does one begin. The easy way is through processed foods, the sugar content, the fats, the carbohydrates, this would be called "the pleasure trap"!! When our bodies get used to tasting and ingesting processed foods, all the additives and added sugar, fats, carbohydrates become addictive, our bodies crave it more often.

What you need to do is create a new flavor profile for yourself, one that includes more natural flavors and foods. Fresh fruits and vegetables, clean lean meats and animal proteins, flavors added with fresh herbs and seasonings, healthier oils such as avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, algae oil (somewhat new on the market and can be pricey), a very neutral flavor and can be used for any kind of cooking. Give yourself Whole Foods it can use to fuel your body, foods your body can utilize and burn, rather than foods that your body has to work harder to find a place for, or to try and flush out of your system. Find pleasure in the good healthy foods.

Another thing to remember when it comes to pleasure is, find pleasure in your life!! Do the things and be around the people that make you happy, bring you joy and fill you with love. When you live a pleasurable life, being healthy and eating well is easier. We all know that feeling of unhappiness and discontent, so we turn to foods that aren't good for us, PLEASURE foods, loaded with fats, sugars, calories and carbohydrates that come from unhealthy ingredients. As I have said sooooo many times before "we are what we eat"!

"Food is molecular information for the body. The average person eats three to four pounds of food a day. That is three to four pounds of chemical "INSTRUCTIONS" that our cells and genes are reading, in order to know what to do. Good instructions lead to health; flawed or incomplete instructions lead to disease and suffering".

"Our genes serve as the guide for building a thriving body, but we need food to influence the genome's expression and to help make the structures the genome calls for. The chemicals in food enter our cells, and many bind with proteins that turn genes on and off (transcription factors). This activity influences the genome's expression. Your DNA is not on autopilot!"

Our minds and our bodies need to work together, giving health and pleasure to both. Now that is a "pleasure trap" I can live with.
