Self and Soul

Two different words this week, each I have written about separately, but in this weeks blog I will be connecting them. Your soul is your self, where your physical body merges with your spirit, you will find your soul. Soul was the perfect word for me to choose in creating my business, "Savor Your Soul". This encompasses all of you, from head to toe, inside and out, heart and soul.

On this first Monday in May, my birthday month, I thought it a good time to re-introduce myself. To talk a little about the who and the why, myself and Savor Your Soul. Where it comes from and why I chose to this particular path. It may help you understand what Savor Your Soul is about, and the person behind it.

Health, Nutrition, family, entertaining, cooking, have all been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I am an educator by trade, and a giver by heart, this is what I am here to do. Whether it is my family, my friends, clients, I am here for all of them, and I have so much to give and share. I put everything I have into what I do, I am passionate about the things and people I commit to, it is important that they know this. It is not just about what I know, it is about what I feel and what I do. This also goes for everyone who is looking to make changes to their life and the world around them. I can share with you all that I know, giving all the tools to work with, pointing you in the right direction, but until you can really see it and feel it from the inside out nothing will work long term. It takes every part of your being to be ready for a different direction, making changes to your lifestyle and having it stay a part of your lifestyle.

It is similar to marriage or a move, these are decisions that you have to be ready for all the way, your heart and your soul. Something that feels right not just sounds right, something that every part of you can see, feel, understand, be inspired by, excited about. This is why I like to address all the parts of a person, and to also understand all the parts of a person, in order for change to happen. It is actually a beautiful thing to open yourself up, to be excited about learning things about yourself that you have ignored, or not addressed, to merge the self and soul into one beautiful being who is living their best life!!!

This is "Savor Your Soul", in all its' glory, just waiting for the next soul that is ready to be there best selves living their best lives. Let's help you find your self and soul!!

Spicy Tortilla Soup-

Ingredients:

4 corn tortillas,

1 yellow onion (peeled and diced),

1 jalapeno (seeded and diced),

2 tbsp Mexican spice blend,

juice of 1 lime,

2 28 oz cans unsalted diced tomatoes,

¼ cup chopped cilantro, or more if you choose

1 15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed,

1 avocado diced.

Cook tortillas in oven at 350 for about 10 minutes flipping halfway through, remove when they feel like chips.

Break into bite size pieces.

In a large soup pot over high heat, add onions, jalapeno, Mexican spice (I have one you can make yourself if you don’t want to shop for it, healthier too), add some water to avoid burning, cook until fragrant and onion starts to soften.

Add diced tomatoes and 2 cups water, bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 -20 minutes.

Add the black beans to soup pot, Puree soup in blender.

Add lemon juice and cilantro, serve with homemade chips on top.

Mexican spice blend- Combine all the seasonings and store in an airtight container.

You can double, triple...this recipe, and use it for Taco meat or a Mexican dish.

1 tbsp chili powder

¼ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp onion powder

¼ tsp dried oregano

½ tsp paprika

1 ½ tsp ground cumin

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper
