Detox

Detoxification~ The physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from the human body.

What do you picture or think of when you hear this word, or just detox??? I think most people might first think alcohol or drugs, harsh chemicals consumed by a person, addicts... Except, there are a lot of things a person consumes that are not good for us. A detox is a cleansing, ridding our bodies of substances that are not healthy, or that are taxing on the body and organs. But, don't just think of it as harsh chemicals such as drugs and/or alcohol, foods we eat can also cause issues in or bodies and our brains, allergic reactions, sometimes foods that cause discomfort, swelling, bloating, constipation. Or more long term reactions such as lethargy, brain fog, excessive weight gain or weight loss. There are many ways to go about a detox or a cleanse, fasting, drinking only liquids such as fresh fruit and vegetable juices, drinking just salted or lemon water, eliminating foods high in heavy metals, contaminants and allergens.

I am not here to promote any certain cleanse or detox, but I do support the process of detoxing the body. This can help you start fresh, or figure out what foods are causing you issues, out with the bad and in with the good. I am also a fan of a detox that includes food, for one they are easier to stay with while giving your body nourishment. This is process that is not a one size fits all, you need to find one that works for you and your body, we are all different mentally and physically. What works for some may not work for others, sometimes it is just hit and miss, trial and error. It can also be a good way of getting to know your body and yourself, we all need to find out what that looks like for ourselves. If you are interested in a detox or cleanse, I do have a few I can recommend.

Now I am going to venture into another detox and this one is a detox of the brains. What we carry around in our heads, how we think, what we give our attention to, how we react to things or people. These things can be very harmful to your health, what mental clutter are we hanging on to, perhaps unnecessarily? Just as we have the power to select what food we eat, we have the power to select our thoughts. Detoxifying our mind, body and soul begins with one selected thought at a time. If it doesn't spark joy in your mind, body and soul, discard it!!! As with our bodies, there are different ways to detox our minds, and this too I can help you with. Detox can be done anytime, not just beginning of a new year, or the start of summer, or before the holidays. Make the decision and do it for your healthy and PEACE of mind.
