Losing the Momentum

We have all had those days, weeks even months where we find that we are losing some of our momentum. It can be in just one area of our lives or it can just be in life itself, one thing leads to another, then another...We all have been there or are there now, finding it difficult to find a way to get that momentum back. Give yourself the time you need, find some self reflection time, find out what is most important to you and start working with the gravity of your life. If you work against it then you will continually be working against yourself feeling that pull. Working with it allows you to feel it, be it and let it move right through you. Freeing you up to get back into life, creating that momentum to move in the direction you want to go.

During this time of quarantine it is easy to lose that momentum, our days have changed, our habits have changed, our lifestyle has changed. Think of it as a time to just be, being present with those around us, this doesn't always mean you have lost the momentum, it just means you need to find new ways to BE. A different kind of momentum, different directions to go, different decisions to make. Like a sailboat when the wind catches the sail and moves the boat along as you steer the course, sometimes the wind dies down and the boat doesn't move much if at all. This doesn't mean the wind won't pick back up, but in the meantime you just need to wait it out. Or if this metaphor finds you on that boat with a motor then you just turn it on and continue on your way, without the sail and wind to carry you:). It is our decisions that will guide us, decisions on how we will get through, decisions about how we will move forward or move at all. Making the right decisions for yourself take time and thought, seems like we have a lot of that right now, TIME!!! Find that momentum again!!!

Spicy Kale and Potato Salad

Ingredients:

Potatoes

1 lb yellow potatoes, cut into bite size pieces

½ red onion, diced

1 jalapeno, diced

1 bell pepper, diced

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp paprika

½ tsp chili powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Dressing

½ cup tahini

2 tbsp red wine vinegar

2 tbsp dijon mustard

Juice of ½ lemon

1 tsp oregano

½ tsp garlic salt

Fresh ground black pepper to taste

Water (until you get the consistency you want)

Salad

4 cup of kale, stems removed and chopped

Juice of ½ lemon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

In a large bowl combine the potatoes, bell pepper, jalapeno, red onion, olive oil, paprika, and the chili powder.  Stir until well coated. Spread the mixture out on a parchment lined cooking sheet and salt and pepper to taste. Cook in the oven for 20 minutes, remove from the oven and stir to flip the potatoes. Place bac into the oven and bake for an additional 10-20 minutes, until potatoes are done.

While the potato mixture is cooking, in a medium bowl whisk together the dressing ingredients, add the water until you get desired consistency.

Place chopped kale in a bowl and squeeze ½ the lemon on the kale and massage the kale and lemon to soften up the kale.  Assemble the bowls with kale first, then the potato mixture, drizzle the dressing over the top.
