Medicine

Medicine, not a word that carries a very positive stigma, but it can!!! Medicine comes in many different forms, food and plants can have very powerful medicinal qualities. This is the kind of medicine I support and promote, if it is plant based, comes from the earth, trees, plants, the ocean...I am all about it. We often refer to our doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies as part of our healthcare system, in actuality it is closer to a disease care system. We are not ever encouraged to reach out to our doctors until we are in need of help by way of illness, injury or physical and mental issues. Then this is usually followed by a prescriptions, surgeries, follow up visits, referrals to other doctors, it seems that once the cycle begins it is hard to get it to stop.

Healthcare to me means taking care of our health, when we are healthy. Educating us on the things we need to be doing to keep ourselves healthy, how we eat, healthy ways we can keep our hearts strong, along with our muscles, bones and organs. The foods we eat to nourish and nurture our bodies, natural supplements we can use to help us balance our physical and mental selves. Because a prescription comes from a doctor doesn't mean it is good for you, this is the doctors way of trying to mask or treat a symptom. What if you started to treat yourself before anything was wrong, by eating right, with foods that your body can use to fight off illness, use to function at its best, regardless of age. If you are going to take supplements, or health aids, be sure they are plant based, put together with natural ingredients, ingredients your body can use and won't give you any powerful side affects.

Don't ever underestimate the power of food and plants, when I refer to food I am talking about Whole Foods, not processed. I love food, all kinds of food and all kinds of flavors, but this doesn't mean I should be eating all foods. We can all get that sweet tooth, chip craving (my weakness), fast food rush, there is more to food than the flavor (oils, sugars, salt) the ease of buying a package of cookies instead of making your own. Whenever you have the opportunity make it yourself, better to know the ingredients in your food and make it as healthy as possible. Essential oils are another great investment, so mush healing power in them, it isn't just about the smell, and so many products using essential oils, muscle rubs, oils for digestion, skin care, oils for cooking blends to diffuse. Natural skin care products that are plant based, so many plant based supplements, not to replace the real thing, but to help you boost your intake. Let Mother Nature be your doctor, she can prescribe the best medicine there is!!!
